Default no power brakes

today my 2001 jetta lost power brakes for a short time. i was pulling out of a parking spot in reverse and found that the brake assisthad stopped working. i checked the brake fluid it was full and did not notice a vacume leak(although i was fairly upset and was rushed to punch back infor lunch). after work i went out to see if i could drive it home. i noticed that as the engine rpms rasied the system charged butwould not recharge at lower rpms after pumping the pedel 2 or 3 times. however, after 5or10min of this, the system started working normaly.i decided to drive it home and it did not happen the whole ride home. i was thinking the power booster, but if the diaphragm was damaged i would think the that the assist would be lost pemanently but i dont know for sure. not tomention i did not check the vacume lines well.

any ideas

what did the pedal feel like? If it's real hard then you booster would be losing vacuum. Check your fluid again after you pump the brakes a few times, if it drops then you have a leak somewhere. I'm really trying to rack my brain on this, I kinda know the system but for it to loose power and then come back is kinda weird....

the fluids are full.. the pedel was stiff like when the car is off and u hit the brakes. am i right to think if it was the booster the power brakes would go out completly.

ok id like to reword the symtoms of the brakes. after driving the car more often if notice that the assist is only acting up during the first startup after siting for awile. and its not thatthay go out completly but dont rebuild presser fast enough. but gose away after a few min..
