Unhappy 2002 Jetta Airbag light on drivers seat deployed?

Hi All,
My 2002VWJetta's Air bag light came on about a month back. My mechanic told not to worry nothing would happen. well last Friday my drivers seat lumbar bag deployed. no accident involed. Just panic on my part. I am a Army Vet with PTSD. Now i trying fiqure out how to get resolved in least expesive way before inspection in may?

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.
