Default VW Jetta stuck in park

Hi folks,
I have a 2010 Jetta TSI. I have never had any problems with it till 3 days ago i drove to a friend's house and parked for a while talking without switching off. When i was ready to leave I put the car in drive but the gear itself is not changing. No matter what gear i shift the stick to, I can mash the gas an it is revving but the car is not moving. Any ideas anyone?

Did you press the brake pedal and do the brake lights work ok?

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.

Hey, the vehicle is still at my friends house, but one of my brake lights doesn't work. It has been like that for months, i bought new bulbs an changed it and it still didn't work so it maybe an issue with the wiring or something. Could that be the cause of this problem?

You can Google this problem. So the ecu knows you have your foot on the brake it checks the brake light switch operation. Check and replace Brake Light Switch (F).
