Default 2000 Passat Seat Warmer and Seat Belt Indicator, are they linked?

I own a 2000 Passat 1.8T.
My drivers side seat warmer isn't working, but the Passenger is working.
I Discovered this last night after leaving work to due being in a rush and on the phone, that my Seat Belt indicator wasn't reminding me to put my seat belt on.
Interesting that these 2 things would go out at the same time.
My question before I start getting my hands dirty,
Are these two problems possibly linked? They do both take place in the seat so I'm going to be fixing two problems there anyways.

Thank you for taking the time to read my thread, and all responses are appreciated!!

I'm not aware of any problems so its just a matter of checking the fuses and relay. After that you could do with getting it scanned with VAG-COM\VCDS to see if there are any error codes logged. Or an EOBD II scanner should find the error codes and erase them.
