'97 Cabrio battery 2L

Hi all .. looking for a battery recommendation for my '97 vw cabrio. Does anyone know the original batter measurement? I had my mechanic replace the battery .. but it was too small and didn't last more than 1 year. also .. it was too small for the battery tray that came with the car.

What specs should I look for? The vw dealership recommended group 42 part number 191915105ABDSP, but the measurements of this battery are too small for the battery tray.
