Jammed Golf GT door

Jammed Golf GT door
In need of some advice on a problem with 2007 Golf GT.
The rear passenger door is jammed shut.
I've had it to my local VW repairer who hasn't had any luck getting the door open.
It seems that unlike the earlier Golf's its not so easy to access the locking mechanism by removing the door trim.
They're threatening to start cutting things to access actuator.
Has anyone seen this problem before, or have any advice?
