Default Should I change from fuel injected to carburettor?

I have a 1976 V W Transporter bus. I purchased it "as is" not running. It is currently in a V W shop they say the fuel pump needs replacing but that the injectors are not available parts to them and if I buy any used or re-manufactured and bring in they will not guarantee. The shop says they suggest to all their customers facing this dilemma that they just switch over to carburetors. This will cost aprox 1500.00 Is this the way to go or are parts out there available?

Well if you can't locate any replacement parts for the injection system then its a matter of locating carburettors, fuel pump and air cleaner of a similar sized engine then just experiment.
