What does Alt. Dist. Sp mean??

What does Alt. Dist. Sp mean??

I have just bought a 2009 CC. in the MFD menu there is an option called Alt.Dist.Sp that I can turn on or off. Does aqnyone know what this function is for??

Well I've never seen Alt.Dist.Sp on my UK version.
