Hello!

So I got this weird knocking kinda noise on idle sometimes, there is absolutely no noise when driving or above the idle rpms. This only happens sometimes and have no real pattern to it. The times I've noticed it the car has been cold but I did notice it when I had been driving for maybe 15 min and stopped as well. I'd say it happens maybe 3-4 times out of 10 starts if even that. The sound does go away sometimes if I just give it a little rev. The car drives perfect though, no roughness at all and shifts like it's almost new. I've run out of ideas of what it could be so came here on some hope for help. It's a Passat B7 2.0 TDI4motion the car has an automatic.

My TDI is also doing this have you ever figured it out?

 

Didn't listen to the video, but I'll take a *WAG* at it and say that for both of you, your DMF is on the way out. I'm told that over time it will get worse, then the whole thing will come apart in a "very unfriendly manner".
