Default boot/trunk problems

i'm having a nightmare with the boot of my 02 passat. i can open it with the key but central locking doesn't open or lock it and neither does the handle on boot.
have to get out and open it with key.

any suggestions. i know they all have problems with electric and i have already had a problem with the control module.
don't want to start pulling all wires out of boot mechanism to find out its just something that needs reset.

if anyone can help please!!!!

You have to hold the boot button on the remote to open the boot, tapping it won't do.
Also there is a dial under the ridge on the boot where the handle is.
You can turn with a screwdriver.
If you look in the manual you can see it has 3 positions
, 1 position is for only being able to open with key, so make sure it's not on that.

The boot/trunk indicator light on the central control panel is on, showing that the boot/trunk is open. However It won't open!. I've tried just pressing the button on the boot as normal, but nothing. I've tried the key, and that thing won't budge!. I've even managed to crawl, after putting the rear seat down, into the boot and removed the 2 bolts that hold the lock in place and then get the boot open that way.
