Default Antenna boot

I have a 2001 VW Golf GTI and the boot of the antenna assembly on the top of the car is starting to fall apart. Last week the rubber ring around the bottom of the boot where the antenna screws in on the outside top of the car started to peel away.

Is the best solution to this problem to just buy some silocone and apply it around the area where the rubber is failing or is there a relatively inexpensive way (that is, no dealer involved) to replace the antenna boot myself?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm having the same problem, and short of going to a junk yard (to find an aging seal), I'm stumped. I plan to ask at my local VW shop when I get serviced this week.

Yeah, I just bought some black silicone at Home Depot and that fixed it fine.

I'm sure the dealer would want a couple hundred dollars.

Don't go to the dealer, when my Volswagen antenna had the same problem. I ask my dealer to replace it,but it costs me some money...I guess you just have to buy a black silicone to fix it..
