Default 2001 Passat GSL Questionaires

Hey guys
I am purchasing a car and came across an 01 Passat 4-Cil 1.8T. This car seems to be in nice condition with only 62k mileage on it. From the exterior I think it's an early 2001 model.

My concern is that I have been doing some research and the early 01 model seem to have A LOT of complaints. I am a college student and cannot afford to spend $1-3k every few month doing repairs. So can you guys help clear some questions for me? Im curious about if these are common issues affiliated with this model, what I can do to try and prevent this, and whether or not I should get his car.
Some areas of concern for me are:

  1. Oil Leakage
  2. Sludging
  3. ABS, O2, and various other sensors
  4. CEL
  5. Turbo malfunction/ issues
  6. Other electrical circuit malfunctions (lights, emergency flash, etc)
Really appreciate the help!

If you were thinking of buying a VW TDI (diesel) I could give you some info but not the Passat 1.8T sorry, just Google.

Well you can have a browse of the TDI buyers guides if you want to save on fuel costs?
