I have an 01 VW Jetta 2.0 Automatic and its stuck in 3rd gear, i can shift it manually into 1st, 2nd, and 3rd but it wont go into Overdrive. Ive been researching and everyones calling it "limp mode"? How do i fix this or get it out of limp mode?

Welcome to the forum.

Well the limp home mode is set by the ecu because certain values it receives from sensors are out of tollerence so it forces a get you home mode.

You really need to find someone with VAG-COM\VCDS to do a system scan to find what error codes are shown. You don't say where you live but I believe Autozone with do a free scan for you with the hope you buy something of them.

Well the official place is Ross-Tech. They aren't cheap but its the best tool you can buy for VAG vehicles. You will find them on eBay but these are Chinese clones and they aren't guaranteed to work, they may come with VCDS Lite.

You haven't said if its a TDI?

I downloaded the LITE version, but I don't think there's much I can do with that can I? And it's a 01 GL 2.0 Auto

The software is free to download you need a genuine or registered lead to use it.

01 GL 2.0 Auto that still doesn't tell me if its gas or diesel.
