I'm new here and I'm looking for a second VW for fun and as a spare. My diesel has almost 300,000 miles on it. I want something that I can personalize and is somewhat sporty. I'm wondering what is the opinion on a VR6 vs a 4 cylinder Jetta. Once I sell my Grand Cherokee I'll probably be able to afford something in the 96' or 97' range I plan on spending about 6000 to 6500. Are there known problems with either of these engines and are parts more $ for one or the other? Sorry about all the questions but I have to start somewhere. Also what are the HP ratings on these engines and what kind of mileage can I expect out of them both in MPG and mileage on the vehicle?
