car loosing rpm's

my car is dropping rpm's when I take my foot off the gas any ideas on what it can be

yeah rpm stands for revolutions per minute so since your no longer giving it gas theres nothing to burn (no air fuel mixture getting in there) and useally when you slow down you lose rps
