Okay, here we go!

2001 jetta vr6 A/C problem - We are in Texas! HOT
When you turn the blower speed to one and engage the a/c button the compressor comes on but there is no air coming thru the vents. When you turn the blower speed to 2,3, or 4 with the a/c button engaged air comes out but the compressor stops. Plus the a/c light goes out? Any ideas? When you go from blower speed 1 to 2 you can feel cold air for like 2 seconds then back to HOT!! My wife is truly sad about this situation. Anyone have the same issue?

 

Might need to get recharged. It might even be the cut off switch... I will do some research in alldata.
