07 Jetta wont shift out of park i screwed up
I have an 07 jetta. Today i installed a new radio and tried to install a backup camera. After installing the radio i took it for a ride and it worked and shifted fine. afterwards While installing the backup camera one of the reverse lights stopped working. This was not the reverse light i tapped into. This was then followed by it not shifting out of park. I dont believe its the break switch as when i press the break the lights work. Please help me with the problem. I bought the car a month ago and it has been running fine up in till this point.

Which radio did you fit an OEM or not?
Locked in park is a problem you can Google. The brake light switch is a problem but you say they work as normal.
Did you code the radio with VAG-COM\VCDS?
You need to scan your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.

Check for codes if possible. Check the wiring going to transmission, it may have come loose, there is a TSB about that. More then likely you have a faulty brake light switch. To release the shifter from park you will need to take the shifter apart where the shifter handle is and the use a flat head screwdriver to release the shift lock solenoid in the shifter assembly.
