Default Golf been sitting for 6 months... won't start

I have a 94 golf and I've had it sitting in my bosses underground garage for the past 6 months. When i went to start it yesterday the battery was completely flat (i really should have disconnected it before i left) so i hooked it up to my friends car to jump start. On the first attempt it actually ran for about 5 seconds then died. After that i could only get it to fire with my foot flat because i suspected it was just flooded, but it will only fire/run for about 1-2 seconds then just die. I have taken the battery out and given it a charge for around 6 hours but it still doesn't have enough juice to turn it over at a respectable speed so I've still be trying it with the jump start... Any thoughts on how to get her going? My dad suggested new plugs so i guess ill take them out and have a look tomorrow.

You can take the spark plugs out and see if they are wet with petrol. You could stivk a new set in if you don't know when they were changed last.

If they aren't wet check the fuel pump is working. Also check the timing belts hasn't broken.

Took the plugs out today and gave them a real good clean, after tuning her over for a while with my foot flat i finally got it to fire enough to run. It seems sweet now, just needed a bit of TLC after being left for a while i think
