I have the chance to buy an 86 blue diesel 5 speed VW golf. The car has 201,000 miles and needs a clutch kit, emergency brake line, andglow switch(currently has a push button start). The engine still runs good, the tranny is still in good condition and the body is in good condition. The owner wants $500 for it. this would be my first car and i want the satisfaction of knowing i put the car together and i put it on the road again. i also like the idea of getting about 50 mpg. But i dont wanna spend a ton of money on it either. Quite the pickle...

I was wondering what info you guys could tell me about it.Like if it would be worth the time, money and energy to fix it up. What i should replace on it, if anything. Places for parts. What other parts of the car i should be worried about. General info about the car.And if it would be worth the money( i am sure i will come up with more questions).
