I got my beautiful cabby long distance and the dealer only sent 1 key - the valet key.

This is a big problem.

Even though I've gotten it duplicated and it turns in the ignition, it doesn't work because the immobilizer stops it. Even the local VW dealer couldn't program the duplicated key.

Any suggestions?
I'm desperate to get a duplicate key that works.

 

I wouldn't have thought that dealers were that stupid to send a car with only a valet key, though a valet key should start the engine but you still need a proper remote for locking.

Get onto the dealer.
