Can't open trunk on 2001 cabrio

Can't open trunk on 2001 cabrio
Truck interior latch must be broken. Can't open trunk and therefore can't release back seat to see what problem is. Any ideas on how to get into trunk?

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.
