Default Trunk wont open

Hey I'm new to this fourm but I have a small issue about my trunk not opening in my 01 Jetta. I have already torn apart my trunk and even replaced the firing mech. Still nothing. I hear it trying to fire. What else could it be? Any insight would be wonderful! It's hard not having a working trunk with two kids. Could the CCM be at fault? I'm thinking so because my "clicker" has a habit of freaking out.

Perhaps I need to go more indepth. I have already replaced the piston in the trunk, and it will open, but only every once and while. the rest of the time I have to crawl in and open it....its a pain in the *** really. What else could It be? I know its not the piston.

We had the same problem starting 2 days after we purchased our '91 Jetta (used, Carmax), the dealer would replace a part and within a couple of weeks the same thing, could hear motor turning but trunk would'nt release. After the third time it malfunctioned in two months time the mechanic thought to check the trunk alignment. The trunk cover itself was out of alignment, the lock and unlock mechanisms were working. He realigned the trunk and we have had no problems since then, (about 2 monthsago). Good luck
