Default 1998 Cabrio- Stereo stays "On"

I just bought a 1998 VW Cabrio, and when the car is off, the stereo does not shut off, unless I turn the stereo off by hand, I then replaced the stereo, and the stereo does the same thing. I have to manually turn the Off button Off.
What is the reason why the stereo does not shut off, when the vehicle is off and no keys in the ignition.

Its a common fault you need to eject any CD you have inserted then it will shut off.

The wiring harness I bought for the after market stereo, says to connect red with red and orange with orange for power and when the ignition switch is off.

If u bought the harness from the store it should be just matching up the wires. I've never hooked up the orange wire if I am right is am accessory wire. The red and yellow are the ones that give the radio power.

Which radio model do you have fitted standard VW or an aftermarket radio?
