1987 Volkswagen Cabriolet cranking but not starting?
Hello everyone my name is Justin! I bought a base model 1987 volkswagen cabriolet back in August, and it ran just fine, but the gas tank was leaking so I changed it, but afterwards it would crank but not start. Putting some starting fluid into the hose connecting the throttle body to the airflow sensor plate will get it to start for a second but die down again. After I changed the tank, I changed the intank fuel pump, the battery, the sparkplugs, the sparkplug wires, the distributor cap and the rotor, along with the fuel filter but I havent had any luck. Anyone have any ideas?

How long is a piece of string?
Start at the basics does it have a good spark at the spark plugs, is it getting fuel and is the timing belt broken if that engine is fitted with one.
