I have an 87 VW cabriolet. It has set for a year but before it set it was running OK. You could be driving down the road and all of the sudden it would start bucking and no acceleration like it was out of gas, you could hear the "flapper" above the fuel distributor popping. So it was parked. Now you can start the car and it will idle all day long. As soon as your foot touches the gas it dies. Thsi happens 99% of the time. That 1% you can rev it up fine but start driving and all of the sudden, no acceration. Fuel Filter has been changed and fuel pump. When pull off hose to fuel filter we see fuel coming out of filter when the key is on. We did some rust but appears to be now gone.
Anyone have ideas...

 

Are you still having this problem with your cabrio? You should take it into the local volkswagen dealership. They should be able to help. Good luck!
