Default replacing headlight (gray) seal

Have a 2002 NB. The headlights are in excellent from TLC over the years. However,
I noticed that one headlight will fog up when washing it and I can see condensation
marks on the reflector (the chrome parts).

Ordered two seals - the gray one that forms a ring between the lens and the body.

OK - how difficult is it to remove the old ones and replace? Any helpful hints?

Also, I'm certain the seal failure is from removing the assembly by grabbing
the front lens and pulling. I didn't do this - I practiced my slang when I attempted
to get the darn release lever in the proper position and wished that I had
long skinny hands/fingers so I could get them behind the lamp assembly.

Naturally, my son comes over and click, pull/push - they're out in a heartbeat.
And I ONLY spent 90 minutes - guess I don't have the magic touch.

Anyway, back to replacing seals - any helpful hints, etc. will be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!
