i am looking at buying a 77 convertable the only prob is the speedometer doesn't work . what is involved with chaging that out with a new one? how much money am i looking at ? could this be another problem that is making the speedometer not work other than the speedometer is just flat broke? i will be greatfull for any help thanx

 

77 has a cable I believe and it is no problem to change. Remove the cable from the back of the speedo and remove the clip from the other end of the cable which sticks out the end of the left front wheel bearing cup, pull cable tru. Usaully breaks about half way so you may have to pull from both ends. IF IF its that kind of setup and I am not sure it is.

 

remove cable from behind speedo at the dash. then jack up the left front wheel and spinn it by hand holding the insert of speedo in your fingers or lightly with a pliers if it is moving you have bad speedo if not then you have bad cable or drive(hole in grease cap should be square) replace as needed
