tranny problems?

Causes of Transmission problem
Fluid
If a transmission leaks fluid, the front pump will not be able to provide the proper amount of pressure and the transmission will not shift. Transmission fluid is a slippery, soapy type of oil that also lubricates the internal moving parts of the transmission.
Front Pump
The front pump can leak or stop working. The transmission will not work at all if the front pump is not working--it won't even go into gear.
Clutches
Both automatic and manual transmissions have clutches. Each gear has its own set of clutches. If the clutches become too thin, the transmission will go into gear, but it may not move the car.
Throwout Bearing
The throwout bearing is only used in manual transmissions. It disengages the clutch when the clutch pedal is pushed in. If the throwout bearing goes bad, it can be replaced without doing a complete rebuild.
