Jetta TDI - Tming Belt Broke and bent valves
I took my 2002 Jetta TDI in for the 80,000 Timing Belt Service. My car now has 122,000 miles and the timing belt broke. The Dealership has told me the timing belt is only warranted for 12,000 miles, plus it is out of the 100,000 extended warranty. The dealership said when the belt broke it bent the valves and I need a new engine for $6,265.00 plus taxes. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

hey man. that sucks. i think i can get you a deal. depending on where you live. I heard talk of a guy in pembroke who will sell a 1.8L engine for a golf for ony 300 bucks with a warrenty. I'll see if I can get his buisness card for you. email me and i can help you figure stuff out.

Belts break all the time, and bend valves all the time, unless one of the valve heads came off went through a piston and broke the cylider wall, which is unlikely, all you need is a valve job. The head is removed and new valves installed, the head is machined to clean up the valve seats for the new valves, and the head is reinstalled with new gaskets and whaalllaaaa! you have a TDI again. I've done literally hundreds!! ( Ive been in the buisness for 20+ years)...
