02 jetta tdi where is oil filter?

Default 02 jetta tdi where is oil filter?

bought car used no owners manual. want to change oil & filter. not sure which is oil filter.

Hey pillihp,

Don't feel bad, it's a little tricky. Remove the plastic hood that covers the engine (the thing with the VW decal) - three 12mm bolts, I think. You'll see a cylindrical cap towards the front of the engine. Unscrew the cap - voila, the filter. By the way, it's just the paper filament - no big metal can to screw in. When you remove the old one, pay attention to which side is up and put the new one in the same way. Good luck!

P.S. Mine's an '01, but I'm assuming it's the same for yours.
