Default RE: Flywheel removal

I removed the clutch, locked the flywheel with bolt on devices, used 36mm socket and pull handle and beat the h- out of the pull handle and could not move the nut. I tried the opposite direction and still no movement at all. The locking washer under the nut has never been bent to lock the nut. Can I separate the halves of the case and remove the crankshaft and flywheel? I then could place the crankshaft and flywheel in my lathe ahd cut the nut out of the crankshaft. I think I can buy a new nut for about 14 bucks.

Many thanks,
