Default 1990 MK 2 Golf 1600

I need help solving a tech problem for my daughter.

She has a nice looking MK 2 1600 that keeps cutting out at about 8-10 miles and I think it's an auto choke problem.

I have changed air filter but I am not that experienced on these cars.

Does anyboby think they may know why this car behaves like this?

Hoping for a tech answer.

Sounds like dirt in the float bowl of the carb. If you're not mechanically inclined yourself, you might have to take it to a mechanic. Don't take it to a dealer unless you don't mind paying more for less service.

could be a clogged fuel filter sounds like it is not getting enough fuel you can try a spray carb cleaner if you do have a carb on it ?? I dont think that will fix it but it will run better when you get the other problem resolved
