Default 1973 Beetle taillights

There are four connectors on the light assembly but there are five wires in the wiring bundle - red, white, black, blue and brown. How on earth do these lights hook up? HELP!!!!

i dont know that much about that year but if i had to gess that extra wire has something to do with that brights of some sort. it is possable that with an older year like that they ran the lights at like say 8 volts and then you "brights" are that fith wire making it all 12 volts. thats just my guess. i would check out manuals and such of wireing diagrams and see what they say.
