Hi all I have recently bought a Transporter 2004 vintage & over the Christmas holidays have been getting it ready for work by fitting a hands free kit (Nokia) & a Kenwood Rad/cd & cd changer. Before I fitted the items & I was very careful the interior light came on the moment I pulled the key out from the ignition but since fitting it now comes on about 10 seconds after pulling the key out has anyone got any idea whats happened. The supply for the radio is the original plugs & the wiring for the phone kit has been taken from the radio supply so have not touched any other wiring.

 

Well in case this happens to anyone else I have now sorted the problem out. It seems that when I fitted the Kenwood CD/Radio the plug from Kenwood to VW electrics are not completely compatable even though they plug into each other ok as the permanent supply & ignition controlled live are the other way round on VW's,so the red & yellow cables have to be swapped over on the lead into the rad/cd. Have now swapped them round & everything is back as it was & also the rad/cd holds its memory when switched on & off.
