Default VW Passat 54 reg 57k - Cambelt (time belt) change

Hello,
I am looking for some advice on changing came belt and long life service. Is VW approved/frenchise garage is better for this job or should i go for any other reputed one? The lowest quote i have received from a vw approved/frenchise garage is £490 for camebelt changing and long life service. What is your opinoin about the price and should i go with vw approved/franchise garage?

Many thanks

This is definatly something you want a approved mechanic to do. Any type of timing set-up or adjustment done to any vehicle is crucial. If not done properly it end up costing you more than what you may pay for a job done right. A good mechanic will look over all the components that affect this type of service. It may be benificial to pay a little more up front for this type of repair rather than end up buying a new motor just to save a few bucks now. Friendly advice from a mechanic.
