Time for a Change.

Time for a Change.
Ok so this is my first post. So hi to all. Alright so i have a HUGE problem. I own a 2001 1.9 TDI Jetta manual trans., which by the way i love dearly. Any way, through a chain of events i basically blew up both the motor and turbo. My question to all is two fold. First, I have been looking online for both of these and i can find hardly any thing and i have a limited amount of money. Does anyone know a place, site, buddy, or entity where i might find reasonably priced engines and turbos either used or new? A buddy's buddy had an idea, and it is the second part of my question. Is it possible to swap the engine with a regular gasoline engine, and if so is it expensive?

any engine swap will be expensive, so yes to the second question, possible, but not worth it on a low budget. and best guess to the first question, check out vwvortex.com click on forums and find the classifieds. if you dont see anything there, post a WTB (want to buy) in the proper section and youll be surprised how many responses you will get

RE: Time for a Change.
To do a conversion from diesel to gasoline, you would
almost need a complete vehicle with all the goodies you
would need sitting beside your diesel, there are a lot of
differences. Also the Federal law changed in about 1995,
about change overs. The Feds don't want you doing it.
They say it changes the emisions and my not meet the
requirements, and if your caught there could be a heavy
fine and you would have to put the vehicle back like it
was before they would drop their interest in you. I know
this sounds a lot flakey but it's true, and I do know one
repair shop that was caught doing all this. The best thing
is to put it back like it was, and the cost wouldn't be
as much as a change over.
