Default Passat Rotors

Need some tech advice for a Passat 03 GLX rotor.
The one and only service guy I spoke with indicated these can not be ground because they are too thin???
(not mine but all from the factory)
Does this sound accurate?

I don't see any replies to other tech questions but I do see a gang of pimps.

If the rotor is below the minimum tolerance for thickness, then it must be replaced. If not it could get to hot while braking and warp or crack. If it becomes warped, it can cause unstable shaking of the wheel when the brakes are applied. Most of the time you can go atleast 2 or 3 brake pad changes to 1 rotor depending on the aggresiveness of the brake pad. Hope this helps. The only thing I could offer for advice to see if you are not getting your rotor's worth, is to get the thickness requirements and ask the mechanic to give the reading he takes with his micrommeter. If he doesn't know what this is or will not do it for you, take your business else where.

Thanks for the info
I'm getting a slight pulse after the brakes warm up.
It is not shaking the wheel.
I have heard lug nuts over torqued or too loose could cause the same symptons.
My usual Euro mechanic was trying to tell me the rotors for my 03 passat come from the factory to thin to grind????
Never heard such a thing.
Your feed back is much appreciated and happy driving!!!
