VAG Error Code: 01218

Fault Location:
Side Airbag Igniter: Front Passenger Side (N200) - Resistance too High

Possible Cause:
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)(K83) active.

Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Side Airbag Igniter, Front Passenger Side (N200) faulty.
Side Airbag Igniter, Front Passenger Side (N200) faulty.

Possible Solutions:
Check Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Side Airbag Igniter, Front Passenger Side (N200).
Check Side Airbag Igniter, Front Passenger Side (N200) faulty.
Check Measuring Value Blocks (MVB).

Special Notes:
When found in the NAR (North American Region) '05 -> '07 Jetta, Rabbit, Eos and Passat, Please See TSB 69-08-02 / 2011271.

VAG Error Code: 01217

Fault Location:
Side Airbag Igniter: Front Drivers Side (N199) - Resistance too High/Upper Limit Exceeded/Short Circuit to Positive/Short Circuit to Earth

Possible Cause:
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)(K83) active.

Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Side Airbag Igniter, Front Driver Side (N199) faulty.
Side Airbag Igniter, Front Driver Side (N199) faulty.

Possible Solutions:
Check Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Side Airbag Igniter, Front Driver Side (N199).
Check Side Airbag Igniter, Front Driver Side (N199) faulty.
Check Measuring Value Blocks (MVB).

Special Notes:
When found in the NAR (North American Region) '05 -> '07 Jetta, Rabbit, Eos and Passat, Please See TSB 69-08-02 / 2011271.
When "short to positive" or "short to earth" is found, DO NOT CLEAR THE DTC. This can cause the airbag to deploy. See repair manual for more information.

VAG Error Code: 01039

Fault Location:
Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor (G62) - Open Circuit/Short Circuit/Short to Circuit Positive

Possible Cause:
Difficulties with starting a cold engine.
Starting the engine when engine is warmish or warm, idle rpm immediately is 1200 - 3000 rpm.
RPM at idle is irregular.
With all engine temperatures seldom idle rpm will vary between 900 - 1000 rpm.
With engine warm (90 °C) the engine temperature suddenly drops (70 °C) and slowly comes back to 90 °C.
Bad acceleration during warming up.
Diesel: an indication is extreme long time burning time of the glow indication light.

Wiring/Connector(s).
Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62) faulty.

Possible Solutions:
Check Wiring/Connector(s).
Check / Replace Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62).

Special Notes:
In MY 1995-2002 (?) in Europe at VW-cars the G2/G62 had the bad reputation of breaking down often.
The default G2/G62 is black and all replacements are green.

VAG Error Code: 00779

Fault Location:
Outside Air Temperature Sensor (G17) - Open Circuit or Short Circuit to Positive

Possible Cause:
In the Instrument Cluster you see dashes (---) instead of a temperature.

Wiring between Outside Air Temperature Sensor (G17) and Instrument Cluster: Open or Short Circuit.

Possible Solutions:
Check wiring between Outside Air Temperature Sensor (G17) and Instrument Cluster.
Check Measuring Block Value 002, Chapter 90-4.
Skoda-Fabia 2000-Electrical.pdf

Special Notes:
When 00799 - Coolant Temperature Sensor (G110) is stored in the HVAC module in M.Y.1996. NAR (North American Region) Audi A4/S4/RS4 (8D) vehicles, this fault can disregarded. It is caused by running Basic Settings on the flap motors. The NAR (North American Region) 2.8L does not have the (G110) sensor installed. This was resolved in M.Y.1997 vehicles.

VAG Error Code: 00856

Fault Location:
Radio Antenna - Open Circuit, Short Circuit to Earth

Possible Cause:
No or pooer radio reception.

Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Radio Antenna faulty.
Radio Antenna faulty.

Possible Solutions:
Read Measuring Value Blocks (MVB) 004 (if necessary 003) Chapter 91-2 page 7.
Skoda-Fabia 2000-Electrical.pdf
Check Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Radio Antenna.
Check Radio Antenna.
Replace Radio Antenna Chapter 91-1.
