Instrument panel, both temperature and fuels gauges work together or don't
Hi,
I have a 91 Passat 1.8CL
My temp and fuel gauge[with their warning lights] both come on for awhile or both turn off at the same time.
I noticed when both gauges are off, if I just lightly bang on
on the instrument window or on top of the dash, they both come on again. So I took the cluster out , removed the instr. gauges to look at the printed cluster but didn't notice anything lose.
Any ideas or suggestions how to fix this?
Or which places may need sodering?
Thanks, Michael

I got lucky
OK,
I got lucky, I think UI solved the problem, it seems the 4 metal pins from the temp and fuel gauge weren't fitting snug into the printed cluster
receptors. After I adjusted that, that gauge hasn't fluctuated after 2 days. Anyway saved my self alot of money and potential damage,
so it was worth the D.I.Y effort, Michael
