Dashboard display problem !!!
Hi all,
A couple of days ago a part of my dashboard display become practicly "dead". I've attached a picture that probably will give you and idea what i'm talking about.
I would like to know if any of you had this issue before and if it's fixable?

This is one of the most perplexing posts I have seen. The only thing I can think of is some sort of, I'll call it debris, from the inside has stuck to those spots and is blocking the light. Or maybe there are wires touching those places. The instrument cluster is pretty easy to remove and take apart if you are comfortable with doing that.

Well I don't get it either cause I had a good look at it and the displays seems to be somehow electronic (like it has pixels).
Btw I have to mention it's a 2004Passat ... where about are the screws for the dashboard ... i really can't see any . Do you have a picture by any chance where you could point them out for me.... i would appreciate it ! Thanks !

Pixels, interesting. That would mean you would need a new gauge because it is an LCD screen. And sorry, no I don't have a picture. If you want, you can go to http://www.alldatadiy.com and for like $15 they will have the full factory manual online for you there.

I would have to think that this is a standard gauge cluster that has led lights behind it, because if it was a pixel display it would look entirely different. It appears that part of the gauge has a dead spot on it. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to happen on the rest of the cluster. The best thing would to subscribe to the alldata site becasue they have answers to almost all the question you could ask. I have a subscription to it and it has helped me tremendiously on lots of issues I have had.
