Default 2008 Passat oil filter housing

Hello,

Can someone tell me where the oil filter housing is on a 2008 Passat?
Do I need a special wrench/tools to get to it?

The paper filter through me off..What brand is recommended?

thanks,

Mike.

I don't know where the oil filter is exactly on your car but, the filter housing itself resembles an oil filter. You just unscrew it with a normal socket wrench or regular wrench. I haven't noticed any difference in oil filters. I've used Mobil1 (about $13), and Bosch about the same price and Fram ($3.99). In my opinion I would go with the Fram.

I used an 1 1/2 socket to turn off the housing on my 07 passat..it worked for me..make sure u use a drain tool to drain the housing out or u will get oil on ya..did u find the housing?..mine was at the front of the motor towards the bumper. I had to take the plastic shield off under the motor to get to it.

Default 08 Passat Wagon Oil Change

I changed my oil and filter tongiht and yes I got oil down the arm because I did not know how to drain the filter. I saw the little orange fitting in the center of the filter nut, but did not know how to go about it. Thanks.
