I am pretty sure that my hatch is not supposed to POP when I use the FOB button or driver door hatch release. I've read that you can change this via VAGCOM so I think someone may have done this before I got the car. Here is what I was reading:

That describes exactly what my car is doing. I don't have the springs he added and I don't intend to. I want it to operate like it was from the factory. Also, would that last locking option be why when I close the hatch, it locks all the doors? If I could turn that off, that would be awesome. The dealer said he couldn't do that. So is there a way to reset the computer to factory settings without having to connect to a computer? (I've already done the battery disconnect). If not, I could buy the VAGCOM equipment but I don't want to take a chance on screwing up my ECU.Is it safe to do it yourself?
