I have an 01 jetta t 1.8 and just recently after driving it for a bit when i brake it makes this weird rattling noise not sure what it is maybe it could be the brakes. A few days ago i was braking and hit a pothole and it made a loud noise not sure if that has anything to do with it. The noise is only when i hit the brakes and am in park.

 

my car also makes this rattling noise, but only when the car is coasting. It seems to go away after second gear, but in first and sometimes in second coasting to red lights it makes the noise, however if I tap the gas or brakes it goes away until I let go. It seems to do it when the engine is at idle speed in gear (900-1100 rpm) anything other than that it goes away.
