Default Stereo Issue

Hello all!

I recently acquired a 2011 Jetta SE. Condition wise it is in pretty good shape.

The stereo is only coming out of one speaker though. It has been decades since I have messed around with stereo things in cars and apparently a LOT has changed. I am trying to find the least expensive option to get some sort of tunes. I am not going for high end eq here. In fact I was thinking of picking up an oem stereo off of ebay and simply swapping it out.

My question is this, do I need to reprogram the ecu if I simply swap out the stereo? I ask because it was mentioned in one of the listings I was checking out.

Salut,
