Default Program remote for power windows?

Hello VW folks,

I have a 2003 Jetta GL 1.8 Turbo. When I was driving it off the lot a person who owned the same car, same year asked me to hand him the keys to my new (used) car. He hit the unlock button expecting the windows to roll down. They did not roll down.

So I started looking around and found out that there are switches you can set when programming the remote. My question to this community is how do you program the remote and more specifically how do you program it to roll down (and roll up) the windows?

You can probably programme this feature with VAG-COM\VCDS. VCDS is the best tool you will ever buy for a VAG vehicle and I mean a genuine cable not the cheap Chinese cloned cables of fleabay.

It depends on what you can afford, HEX-USB+CAN is the best. VCDS Compatibility Charts
