Default Problem with Starting

Recently, I've been having some problems getting my 2004 1.8 Turbo Jetta to start. I had similar problems with it last year, but once I upgraded to premium gas it did fine for a while. Then, here recently it's been taking a little longer than usual to start up. A few days ago, I tried starting the car, but the engine would not turn over. After a few times it turned over but just for a second, then would cut off again. It did this a few times just starting then turning off. Finally, after barely tapping the gas I got it started, but it was extremely rough. And, as I backed out of my place, the entire car seemed to shake. But, once I starting driving off it did fine. A little while later it started fine, but the next morning I had the same problem with it not starting. I've also noticed that my clock and trip miles have been resetting themselves, but not the radio. I also have my check engine light on. And about three times this year, it has turned itself off when I stop at a stop light. Could all these problems be connected some how?

Yes, if you could go to a parts store or mechanic and find out what the engine code or codes are it would help a lot in diagnosing your problem.
