Default Please Help

Ok so my girls 2001 Cabrio with is automatic had been having an intermittant problem. Every so oftem when she slows the car down the car slows down abruptly as if someone slammed on the brakes, but she is putting steady even ressure on the brakes. Then when she attempts to give it gas the car is sluggish and will not really acclerorate. She then pulls the car over and comes to a comlete stop. After doing so she can then accelorate find as if it never happend. Then it will not happen again for a few weeks. I believe it to be a tranny problem, my mechanic thinks it may be the ecu and the volkwagon dealorship says there is no codes coming up and because it is an intermittant problem they can not diagnose it unless it happens while it is there. Has this hapend to anyone else and if so what was the cause / solution. Thanks.

My 2002 jetta is at the dealership for the 4th time with this same problem. first they replaced the brake light switch, but the problem continues and they have not been able to identify the fault code. The problem is progressively getting worse. I have to continually pull over, put the car in park and press on the gas several times. the dealership feels that the problem is with the brakes. I will let you know if it is ever resolved.
