Default Oil Pan

Anyone else have oil pan plug leaks? On my second Jetta and both have leaked after a fewoil changes. Aluminum pans with a steel plug....go figure! Anyone know if they make a steel replacement?

I did get it to seal up and am now pumping it out when it is time to change the oil. Talked to the local Kwik Lube guy and he says that the VW dealer keeps a healthy supply of the new pans on the shelfand are aware of the problem but won't admit that it is a poor design. Thanks for your help though.

That they do, and they charge you an arm and a leg for those darn things. I had to replace the oil pan on my 99 jetta and it ran me $250.00 and the guy said that he was giving me a deal!!! RIP OFF.. I am sure if somebody wanted to they could cast a steel oil pan it would be a lot more durable that the aluminum one.
