2000 beetle Oil Pan

Default 2000 beetle Oil Pan

need to install oil pan (drain plug stripped) is this a SIMPLE bolt on deal or should I take it to a real Mechanic ?

I'm hoping it's easier than it looks. I cracked my oil pan on my 2000 2.0 Beetle (80k miles) after the splashgaurd was also torn off (long story). If you do need the actual oil pan replaced, it's gonna cost ya. Mine was about $450 total to replace the the oil pan and obviously with the labor and oil change. Chances are it is something you have to have a pro do, but ask a friend to try first and save a few bucks. Hope this helps...

Same thing needs to be done to my car. 2000 New Beetle, 74k, 2.0L. I can't believe how much this whole thing is going to cost me. My first estimate is $525 with the oil pan itself being $290. Ridiculous! Anywhere I can get one cheaper?
