Default oil in the air filter

I was recently checking things under my hood. I took a look at the air filter and there was oil in it and oil in the tube leading to the filter. I am a newer volkswagen ownerbut I know thatin other carsoil in the air filterwould not be a good sign. Is this a normal vw thing?
-Thanks

what trans/engine is in the car? are you running it hard at all? sounds like youre running it hard and the the pcv system is sending oil into the air filter...you may want to think about getting a catch can now...

well it is a 2.0 automatic and I just got it about a week ago. I try not to run it hard because I am very gas conscience. Could the pcv need to be replaced?
